Falls & Balance

Prevention and ageing strong…

When should you see a Physio?

Balance should be improved and worked on all throughout life, however, as we age, the risk of falls increases with a decline in balance, eyesight and strength. Falls carry a great risk to older persons and falls and balance exercises are the first line recommended treatment.

What will a Physio do for balance?

We provide a detailed balance assessment and tailor a program that is safe but effective. We have options for home-based exercise, in-clinic supervised sessions (either 1:1 or in a group class) and in-clinic independent use of our gym or Pilates studio.

Osteoporosis prevention & management

Osteoporosis is a condition of the bones that increases the risk of fractures. Lifting weights and balance training is the gold standard recommended treatment to prevent and manage osteoporosis. If you are 40 or over, you can do a quick online assessment to determine your fracture risk.

Our gym area is equipped with light to heavy weights to ensure you are working at the right intensity to increase your bone density and manage your osteoporosis.

Vertigo & Dizziness

Vertigo and dizziness can be debilitating. We are trained at specifically assessing treating benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Balance training forms an integral part of the rehabilitation process.

Other conditions that can benefit from balance training are Meniere’s Disease, vestibular migraines and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
