The staff at Preston Physiotherapy have an extensive range of clinical expertise and therfore are able to implement a variety of programs and methods with their clients

  Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique that uses sterile acupuncture needles to relieve pain, increase range of motion and restore muscle quality. Luke and Rachel have completed additional training in dry needling to refine their skills. Dry needling can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including but not limited to • Muscle tightness and/or pain • Hypersensitivity • Overactive muscles / Muscle imbalances • Referred pain • Headaches.

  TENS Electrotherapy

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is a technique used to relieve muscle tightness and nerve pain among other ailments. It is used in conjunction with soft-tissue therapy and heat therapy to achieve the best results. Four small pads are placed on the skin and the device, once turned on, pulses small levels of electrical stimulation through the muscles being targeted. The device is fully adjustable and can be as strong or as weak as the client prefers.

  Hydrotherapy Programs

Commonly used by our work cover and TAC clients, hydrotherapy is a useful tool to help with pain and rehabilitation. Our Physiotherapists have extensive experience in designing appropriate programs for you to do at the pool. We provide laminated exercise programs that you can take to the pool so that you don’t have to recall the exercises from memory. Hydrotherapy is commonly used to treat the following issues: • Pre- & Post-operative • Post-natal • Arthritis & Joint Pain • Back pain .

  Soft Tissue Therapy

Soft-tissue therapy is a broad term used to describe a variety of techniques that utilises the hands-on skills of our Physiotherapists. Some techniques include soft tissue massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point release, joint mobilisations, manipulations and stretching. Soft-tissue therapy can be used to provide instant relief of headaches, back pain and any other musculoskeletal injuries.

  Gym Programs

Our Physiotherapists also have additional qualifications including Exercise Science and Personal Trainig and are therefore fully equipped to design gym programs for all issues, either physiotherapy related rehabilitation, or simply a progression program that is safe and targets the specific areas that you need to increase fitness, flexibility, strength or target weight loss. All of our Physiotherapists have completed additonal professional development to further improve their exercise presciption abilities.
